Creativity= counting your blessings.

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”

~William Arthur Ward

I want to start off today’s post by sharing with you all just how grateful I am for all of you…  those of you who read my words, allow them to soak into your being, and sometimes bless me with a response…  it may not seem like much to you, but to me, it’s an enormous reflection of all the reasons why I’m here…  why I sit at my computer day after day and allow my thoughts to spit out onto the screen in front of me.  And in honor of Thanksgiving, I thought I’d begin a new tradition today…

Books mean the world to me, and when I find a good one, I tend to want to share it with everyone I know.  Having just read The Joy Diet by Martha Beck with the Next Chapter Book group, I’m happy to say that I’ve gotten much from it,  and having just closed it’s cover for the very last time, I am now ready to pass it on…  so, yeah, this is a giveaway of sorts.  It’s quite obvious that I’ve loved the book…  it is missing it’s dust cover, is scuffed in places, and has highlights and bent pages here and there, but I like to think of it as infused with my own journey toward joy, awareness, and hope…  with plenty of room for absorbing the energy of several more readers!   There’s nothing like a well-read book getting passed on to whoever is called to read it next.

So if you’d like to give this book a shot, I invite you to leave a comment, and just tell me atleast one thing that you’re grateful for this Thanksgiving week.   I’ll randomly pick a name at the end of the week and send it on its merry way.  My hope is that when you’re finished with it, you, too, will pass it on in whatever way feels right to you…

What I am grateful for in this moment:

1.  My precious family, and their willingness to let me grow and shine.

2.  The way the sun is trying, oh-so-hard, to peek through a thick, wintery-feeling blanket of clouds.

3.  A strong foundation for my business to grow on.

4.  A wonderful group of friends who support and inspire me every day.

5.  Having a toasty fire in the woodstove.

6.  My dog’s chin propped up by my foot, and how he occasionally looks up at me with his deep, sulky eyes.

7.  The steamy cup of green tea sitting on my desk waiting to be enjoyed.

8.  Having the opportunity to create something every day, whether it’s a piece of writing or a piece of art or a loaf of bread.

9.  The slight possibility of snow headed our way in a few days.

10.  The scent of Nam Champa wafting through the house.

What about you?  What are you grateful for in this moment?

    Hi, Lisa!

This year I am grateful for the new friends that I’ve made; they may be online friendships, but they’ve taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and have kept me going while dealing with uncertainty about my job. They’ve also led me to many terrific websites about discovering the creative soul in us all (and that includes your site, too!).

And even though there have been many bumps and pitfalls, many detours and much uncertainty, I am grateful for the journey. I have to believe that they are necessary to find the peace and contentment I crave.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! May we all cultivate an attitude of gratitude. Blessed be!

  3. Beautiful, Lisa. You have inspired me to write my own thankful blessings post for tomorrow.
I have not read Martha Beck’s “The Joy Diet” but have heard rave reviews. If I am a random winner, when I am done I, too, will pass it on.
    Thanks,
    Sandy
