A step toward happiness…

Today is the official kick-off of The Next Chapter’s mail-around book club, and I am so HAPPY to be joining Jamie Ridler and so many of my other creative cohorts on an adventure in HAPPINESS while we send four copies of The Happy Book literally all around the world! I don’t know much about the book as of yet, but I look forward to getting my hands on it, and scribbling, doodling, writing, or whatever else I’m called to do within its pages.
In the meantime, we’ve declared Fridays as a day to “share our Happy.” I love this idea. And Fridays are perfect because they’re typically my day to flow from moment to moment without an agenda, being guided purely by delight. But I think that happiness can be contagious when we let it seep outside the boundaries of our own psyche.
And let’s face it. The world needs a little happiness right now. I keep thinking about the recent earthquake in Haiti, and how the world seems to be almost holding its breath as we wait for news on what we might be able to do to help. My friend, Amber, is down there as we speak, coordinating relief efforts and developing strategies to move folks from the city to places where they can find their families, food, shelter, water, and medical care. She wrote on her blog earlier today about how she was awakened this morning at 5am by aftershocks that were met with singing, voices as powerful as the tremors themselves… “Hallelulah!”
We all have so much to be grateful for. And yet, knowing there is such tragedy in the world raises so many questions… especially, WHY? It’s a paradox we’re faced with every day of our lives.
I invite you all to share your happy today… in honor of those who are singing with arms outstretched to the sky every time the earth trembles.
My happy:
My friend Amber and her loved ones are safe; my sweet, silly family; my new studio arrangement; my clients, who I learn from all the time; warm weather and melting snow; sandpapery kitten kisses on my nose; sign-ups for my upcoming retreat; today’s intense chiropractic adjustment; my inspiring and encouraging friends; knowing that the sun will rise again tomorrow.
For updates, personal stories, and donations, please check out Amber’s blog HERE.
{Don’t miss out on the outrageous once-in-a-lifetime “Guinea Pig Special” for my upcoming retreat! Do you need to to relax, eat healthy food, and get clear and inspired in the company of like-hearted women? Check it out!}

Lisa- Happy Day is a FANTASTIC idea, & if I may add my own 2 cents- a good butt shaking or a “Happy Dance” only makes the happy, well, happier! I’m so proud of your friend,Amber- gonna go read her blog. You really are amazing, can we have a date night next week?
Amber is a hero. I close my eyes & can picture the people trapped & shocked… & I know their journey is only beginning. We have to keep up our efforts – we must become global citizens.
It IS hard to remain in our own world of happiness while we see and here about the devistation people in Haiti are experiencing. So I send prayers and gratitude to those like your friend who can be there to help.
Peace & Gless,
WRO
Lisa,
Happy Day is quite fun! Today I am most happy that my children are safe and all around covered; that I am surrounded by positive energy people who encourage and inspire me; that I found a ride to and from work even though my car has died. it’s all about perspective. I will check out your friend’s blog–much good energy to her and those around her!
What a wonderful portrait of your happy! I’m celebrating Amber with you and finding and appreciating happiness in this time.
And oh, my, what a picture! I laughed with joy when I saw it.
Have a happy!
Thank you for sharing your happy with me!
Hi Lisa, thanks for stopping by my blog, I’m looking forward to being on this happy journey with you! Love the smiling Buddha!
Hi Lisa,
I missed being part of the The Next Chapter this time but I definitely want to share Happy Friday with everyone. I bought my own copy of the book so I can still be a part of the adventure. This Friday I got to share some time with a special group of friends so it was a very “Happy Friday.”
The picture of the smiling Buddha made me smile as well. Have a great week.
